Like many of my peers I started my love of reading at the library. As a kid I loved my school library, it was always my favorite place. I would go into it, greet the librarian clicking away on her computer, and happily browse the ever increasing shelves of books until I found whatever stuck out to me, then I would take it down walk across the room and check it out. It feels human it feels real and it feels alive.
Many of us share the same, or similar experience, we get attached to the romanticized idea of books and stories we have built over the years, but often we find it increasingly hard to find the time to get out to the library or book store.
I started reading ebooks, like most people, on my cellphone. I would buy a book on Amazon's Kindle and read it on their app. Now I have since switched to an ereader (future post on which one coming soon), and I can honestly say that even though it is a screen it feels very much similar to a traditional book.
Unlike a phone or tablet, eReaders do not emit any light at all, they use a special screen that doesn't emit any light and can easily be read in broad daylight. Books are available immediately and you can even borrow eBooks from your library directly on some ereaders, and on apps that connect to your ereader on others, if you want to read any new book than you can immediately, no more trips to the library or book store, its all right there at your fingertips.
eReaders are able to house thousands of books at once, often more books than most of our homes could ever comfortably house, and all your books are protected from any disaster. If your home floods you run the risk of losing all your books in the ruin, but with ebooks they stay right on the cloud ready to download any time.
I made the switched to ebook and an ereader years ago. It is totally worth it and I think you should try it out!
